7 WAYS TO BEAT THE JANUARY BLUES
Even though January is technically nearly over, the ‘January blues’ is something that can be hard to shake in the first few months of a new year. It’s winter, it’s cold, dark and depressing (in London anyway!), you want to eat healthy, but it’s so cold that you need to eat hot, wholesome food, and your bed looks comfier than ever! I am one of those people who loves winter in the run up to Christmas and New year, and then after that’s all over I’m like ‘Okay, let’s have summer now..’. But since it’s most definitely going to be cold and slightly depressing for at least two more months, I thought I’d share some of my most trustworthy, and uplifting products and tips to help at least calm the January blues!

1- CANDLES
Candles- my friends, can turn around any bad, sad, annoyed or depressed mood you might be in, in quite literally the click of a button! I am a self confessed candle hoarder and buy on average around 5 candles a week (I’m not kidding). They put me in an entirely different mood and make even the darkest, coldest room seem cosy. When in doubt- light a candle!

2- HUMIDIFIER
My MUJI humidifier was probably one of the best investments I’ve ever made. After a long day I will come home and fill it up with some gorgeous essential oils (lavender is my fav) and place it by my bed. A humidifier is great for many different reasons- they add moisture to the air/room to prevent skin from drying up when sleeping, they help with sickness, blocked nose,  throat or dry skin and lips. They are also incredibly relaxing and obviously smell incredible. A great way to relax after a stressful day, inhale some pure, calming air and also be benefiting your skin at the same time.

 3- PULSE POINT BALMS
I am a huge fan of pulse point balms, oils and creams. A pulse point balm is something that you rub on all your pressure points, which in doing so will relax you by releasing essential oils into your system. Pretty much all that I have tried smell incredible and are extremely calming (especially when applied just before going to sleep). This product is another step that you can add to your ‘unwinding routine’ after a long day at work or school- a perfect way to calm those January blues.

4- FACIAL SPRAYS
I have talked a lot about facial sprays before here on FPSBEAUTY, because I think they are a really lovely thing to incorporate into your everyday routine. Facial sprays are a great way to give you a bit of a ‘wake up- refresher’ when you have hit that mid-day slump and are starting to dream about the dairy milk and can of coke in the vending machine around the corner from your desk. My favourite facial sprays are rose scented, and I use them in the morning after I’ve finished my makeup, mid day at around lunch time, and before I go to sleep. All you do is mist the spray all over your face- it is instantly refreshing, calming and and soothing.

 5- STAYING MOISTURISED
Now this obviously, isn’t going to ‘cure’ January blues (none of these are- they are just nice ways to help) but properly moisturising during the cold and depressing winter months is a great way to pamper yourself after a long day. Finding a really nice moisturiser that you can lather all over your face and body before you go to sleep, is not only a extremely relaxing process but you will also wake up feeling really smooth and gorgeous- preparing yourself to step out into that bitter cold weather without feeling dry!

6- FACE MASKS
Face masks are a lovely way to unwind and pamper yourself all from the comfort of your own home. Theres nothing I love more than doing a little ‘at home spa day’ if I’m feeling down- to bring my spirits back up. I have a more in depth post about what time of face mask is right for your skin- ‘choosing the right face mask’  but once you find the one that’s right for you- make it apart of your weekly routine, to take some time for yourself and treat your skin to something special. Sunday’s are the perfect day to do this, to make sure that you start your week off on a relaxing, calm and positive note.

7- EXTRA NIGHT TIME PAMPERING
I know it’s a lot of pampering- but during these dark and depressing months, pampering yourself is something to look forward to at the end of a bitterly cold day. Taking the time to properly unwind and relax will ensure better health in both mind body and soul. I hate feeling rushed during the evening because when you get up the next day you feel like you haven’t had any proper time to yourself. One new product I love and have started to incorporate into my routine is a cold eye mask, that I use every couple of days to relax, de-puff my eyes and put me in a calm mood before bed. Store it in the fridge so it is extra cold all day for you to come home too!

Needless to say, beating the January blues goes much deeper than just buying products- staying motivated and positive is the key to keep on going. Set yourself goals, make lists and try to be grateful for what you already have. January is probably one of the hardest months for us all because we reflect on the past year and we struggle with what we didn’t achieve or manage to do. Make 2017 your year and incorporate positive things into your everyday routine, set meaningful life goals and always look forward!

I and my friends appeared to be digesting the excellent tips and hints located on your site and quickly came up with a horrible suspicion I never expressed respect to the website owner for those strategies. The young men appeared to be certainly very interested to read through them and already have very much been taking pleasure in these things. Appreciation for turning out to be quite considerate and then for picking this sort of high-quality subjects most people are really needing to understand about. Our honest apologies for not expressing appreciation to earlier.
